Here's some dope for all those smitten by the hottest girl on American television this Fall - Blake Lively (Serena from Zee Cafe's Gossip Girl). Blake Christina Lively (born August 25, 1987 in Tarzana, California) is an American actress earlier known for her roles in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and Accepted.

Blake Lively is the youngest of five children; her parents are actors Ernie and Elaine Lively. She has two sisters, Lori and Robyn, and two brothers, Jason and Eric. Both her parents and all four siblings are, or have been, in the entertainment industry. Her brother-in-law is Bart Johnson.

She attended Burbank High School in Burbank and has participated in the National Show Choir. Blake is known for her tall 5'10" frame and blonde hair. Lively started out in film with a bit role in Sandman in 1998. In 2005, Lively played Bridget in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, for which she received a Teen Choice Award nomination for "Choice Movie Breakout - Female". She will be reprising the role in 2008 in the sequel, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, alongside co-stars Alexis Bledel, America Ferrera and Amber Tamblyn.

She starred in Accepted, Simon Says and Elvis and Anabelle in 2006. She also received the Breakthrough Award from Hollywood Life for her role in Accepted on December 10, 2006. In 2007, she was cast in the de facto lead role of Serena van der Woodsen in the new teen drama, Gossip Girl, co-starring alongside Leighton Meester, Chace Crawford, Taylor Momsen and Penn Badgley.

Lively scored her first major magazine cover with November's 2007 Cosmo Girl. In the magazine she discussed her high school career.

Jay Leno returns with new episodes starting tonight on Zee Cafe. So, it seemed like a good time to share some of his 'green' interests.

The sultan collector of rare and expensive automobiles has an expansive 17,000 sq. foot “Big Dog Garage” in Burbank, CA. In a recent article in the Autos section of the LA Times Jay told the reporter about the 54-kilowatt solar power system that he installed atop his garage last month that on some days can power his air conditioning, overhead lights, power tools and still return some power to the city.

Apparently the 57-year old TV show host has been going over his garage looking for ways to make it more eco-friendly. Why, one might ask? – “My thing with the green situation is: Even if you don’t believe in global warming, don’t you want to screw the oil company or gas company or utility company?”

What's on Cafe tonight?

High schooler Justin Tolchuk (Dan Byrd) is a sensitive, lanky 16-year-old just trying to fit in (with his mother's help) at his high school in Medora, Wisconsin.

His well-meaning mom Franny (Amy Pietz) who just wants him to be "cool" and fit in.

Franny signs up for the school's foreign exchange program and predicatably pictures an athletic, brilliant Nordic teen who will bestow instant coolness on her outsider son. And, what she gets is Raja Musharaff (Adhir Kalyan), a 16-year-old Pakistani.

All in all, it's going to be a very interesting year for Justin, Raja, the family, and the entire community of Medora as some rather ugly elements start to surface.

Aliens in America series premieres tonight in India and is scheduled for Thursday nights at 9:30 on Zee Cafe. If it’s comedy you’re looking for, this entertaining story of a shy high school kid thrust into a amusing situation is a must watch for you.

Jay Leno to return despite WGA strike

Here's some good news for The Tonight show with Jay Leno fans.

Late-night TV comedians Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien said on Monday they will resume taping their shows on January 2, and cross picket lines if necessary, after nearly two months off the air in support of striking film and television writers.

With no end in sight to Hollywood's worst labour crash in 20 years, the hosts of 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and "Late night with Conan O'Brien" said they were returning for the sake of scores of co-workers idled by the strike.

Both will renew production without their writers, who presumably will still be on strike.

Journeyman: Miss it and you'll regret it..

Watched the premiere episode of Journeyman on Zee Cafe on Tuesday (11th Dec) and I must accept that this one of the bestshows I have seen in a long time.

The show, in short, follows the life of Dan (Kevin McKidd) who one day starts waking up in random places. Before he wakes up though, he has extremely vivid dreams about going back in time about 20 years. At first he believes these are just dreams but eventually realizes his dreams are real. And, as he disappears, everyone around him (his wife/brother/colleagues) begin to wonder if he is gotten addicted to some stuff or gone crazy.

So, the job at hand is not just solve the mysteries in the time zone he lands in but also to save his marriage :-) Apart from a fantastic storyline, what's most impressive is the use of music. The end of the premiere episode has “One” by U2 playing while Dan is in one last desperate attempt to prove to his wife what’s actually happening digs up their backyard.

There's another great comedy hitting Zee Cafe soon. Back to You is an American situation comedy series created and executive produced by Christopher Lloyd and Steven Levitan.

The series is directed by James Burrows Chuck Darling (Grammer) and Kelly Carr (Heaton) were co-anchors of a Pittsburgh news program that had great on-screen chemistry, despite constant quarreling off-screen.

However, Chuck left to take a job elsewhere. After an embarrassing comment he made resulting in his firing from a large market LA newscast, Chuck has returned to Pittsburgh after 10 years to become anchor on the newscast he originally left. Chuck also learns that he is the father of Carr's 10-year-old daughter. Their daughter, Gracie, is now 11-years-old as of the episode, "Something's Up There". A review by the LA Times says "Back to You is back to TV comedy basics: multiple cameras, live audiences but, mostly, laughs. — Los Angeles Times."

A few random notes on the latest reality show on Zee Cafe - TRAVEL GIRLS.

Travel Girls follows the story of six girls striving for fame as TV travel presenters.

They're competing for the job of fronting a travel show by attempting to demonstrate their aptitude for fronting a travel show. So essentially, it's an audition. But when six attractive women compete for a prize, there lies the wonderful opportunity to make a TV series out of it.

Soon, there will be just three girls left out of the initial six.

Natalie, a beautiful but vapid blonde, complains that whenever she had to speak, her mind went blank. One crew member went on to describe her as "not the smartest cookie in the world", and after watching her attempt at combining those tricky activities of talking and walking up an escalator, you would have to agree.

Heather, a cute but distracted brunette, was too busy texting her boyfriend back home to bother firing up her personality circuits. "I think we've broken up but I'm not sure," she whined.

And Susie, who you could probably describe as "bubbly", asked searching questions of her interviewees along the lines of "Why is it called the Great Barrier Reef?", "Where do babies come from?” and "Why is air?"

There's a Science to Big Bang

Ever wondered how the Geeks in Big Bang sprouted those equations and convoluted dialogues, every Thursday (9 PM) on Zee Cafe? Well, cos the science in the scripts gets a lot of attention. David Saltzberg, a professor of physics and astronomy at the University of California-Los Angeles, checks scripts and provides dialogues, math equations and diagrams used as props. He says he's more consultant than contributor.

"Physicists love to nitpick, so for the 100 in the 10 million people who might watch the show, I try to get it as close to 100% accurate as I can," he says.

"Very often, we'll write a speech and say, 'science to come" says Check Lorre, creator of Big Bang. "Saltzberg fills it in. He's a terrific guy with a great sense of humor."

The cast also spent time at UCLA hanging with the students and faculty 'stealing some little bits of mannerisms and wardrobe" says Galecki who plays Leonard.

Jim Parsons who plays uber-geek Sheldon, says sprouting the scientific dialogue "can be a pain... When we tape, I have to make sure I get up an hour earlier than i need to. I sit down with a physics dictionary"

Well, whatever it is the science must be working cos its one of the shows of the season thats building traction and has been picked up for a whole season (22 episodes). Here's to more equations...

The 2007 Writers Guild of America strike is a strike by both the Writers Guild of America, East (WGAE) and the Writers Guild of America, west (WGAW) that started on November 5, 2007. The WGAE and WGAW are two labor unions that represent film, television and radio writers working in the United States.
The strike is against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), a trade organization that represents the interests of American film and television producers. Over 12,000 writers are affected by the strike.
The strike was expected to be prolonged; sources said that a settlement was unlikely before the start of 2008.

The Writers Guild has indicated their industrial action would be a "marathon." AMPTP negotiator Nick Counter has indicated that negotiations would not resume as long as strike action continues, stating, "We're not going to negotiate with a gun to our heads—that's just stupid."
However, it was recently announced that both sides will resume negotiations on November 26, 2007, regardless of the continuation of strike action.

The last such strike was the 1988 Writers Guild of America strike; it lasted 22 weeks, costing the American entertainment industry an estimated 500 million dollars

Kunal Nayyar has turned out to be quite a star in this Season's hot sitcom - The Big Bang Theory on Zee Cafe. The 'Indian connection' has no doubt helped in winning over English audiences in India and many want to know more about 'Rajesh Koothrapali'.

Born in London and bred in New Delhi, Nayyar currently lives in Los Angeles. He has always been proficient in entertainment, and his Cotton Candy play continues to run in Delhi, even as he finishes writing his first feature film.

Nayyar's character, Rajesh 'Raj' Koothrappali is a brilliant Stephen Hawking fan with a heavy Indian accent. He's really shy and has considered marrying an Indian woman -- because she can sing their future kids desi lullabies.

The first thing one notices about the new Survivor:China logo are the words “Outwit, Outlast, Outplay”. They've been replaced with Chinese characters.

The Chinese characters mean the following:

Must say the logo has been adapted very nicely for the latest season. The bandanas that the contestants wear on the show are sure to be a huge 'merchandise' hit.

The long awaited reunion between Page and Plant occurred on a 90 minute "UnLedded" project, recorded in Morocco, Wales, and London, which rated highly on network television. It was not a reunion of Led Zeppelin, however, as former bassist and keyboardist John Paul Jones was not present. Jones later commented that he was unhappy about Plant and Page naming the album after "No Quarter", a Led Zeppelin song which was largely his work.
In addition to acoustic numbers, the album features a heavy world music reworking of Led Zeppelin classics, along with four Middle-Eastern and Moroccan-influenced songs: "City Don't Cry," "Yallah," (or "The Truth Explodes") "Wonderful One," and "Wah Wah".

As The X-Files saw its viewership expand from a "small, but devoted" group of fans to a worldwide mass audience, digital telecommunications were also becoming mainstream.

According to The New York Times, "this may have been the first show to find its audience growth tied to the growth of the Internet."The X-Files was seen to incorporate new technologies into storylines beginning in the early seasons: Mulder and Scully communicated on cellular phones, e-mail contact with secret informants provided plot points in episodes such as "Colony" and "Anasazi", while The Lone Gunmen were portrayed as Internet aficionados as early as 1994.

Many X-Files fans also had online access. Fans of the show became commonly known as "X-Philes, a term coined (from the Greek root "-phil-" meaning love or obsession) on an early Fidonet X-Files message board.

In addition to watching the show, X-Philes reviewed episodes themselves on unofficial web sites, formed communities with other fans through Usenet newsgroups and listservs,and wrote their own fan fiction.

As has also become commonplace in television today, episodes never displayed their titles on screen or in TV Guide; the producers disseminated the information via the Internet.
Unusually for the time, review sites and fan groups were also influential on the producers. Chris Carter claimed to read them: "The show originally [from 1993 to 1996] aired at 9 o'clock on Friday night and at 10 o'clock, I could get on the Internet and see what people thought of it."

Back when McCartney was a Beatle, his music was considered very dangerous in the former Soviet Union.

The Beatles, it seems, were seen as the epitome of
Western debauchery, proof positive that too much capitalism and freedom leads to a meltdown in values.

Things were different in 2003.

Thousands of Russians packed Red Square to see the rock legend Sir Paul McCartney perform his first-ever concert in the former Soviet republic. McCartney told the audience, "We have come here tonight to rock Red Square", before kicking off the show with the Beatles' classic All My Loving.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, who earlier gave Sir Paul a personally-guided tour of the Kremlin, was among the audience.

The BBC's Nikolai Gorshkov in Moscow says people in the audience wept and hugged each other and many called their less lucky friends on mobile phones to let them hear the concert.

McCartney, he says, mastered some Russian to tell the audience how great it

Origin of Just For Laughs

Just for Laughs is a comedy festival held each July in Montreal, Quebec. It is the largest festival of its kind in the world.

It began in 1983 as a Francophone event and introduced its English language side in 1985.

Each day, street performers, "New Vaudevillians" and other acts both vocal and visual perform throughout the city, particularly in the "Latin Quarter" -- an area known for its theaters, cafés and boutique shopping. In the evenings, the nightclubs and live venue theaters offer special programs supporting the performers.

Although Juste Pour Rire attracts spectators from around the world, many of those in the audience are talent scouts, booking agents, producers and managers from the entertainment industry. Performing at the festival is one of the biggest opportunities for undiscovered talent to showcase their act in front of industry professionals.

Established comedians from around the world also gather at Just for Laughs. For example, Jerry Seinfeld, Jon Stewart, Jason Alexander, Russell Peters, Bill Cosby, Ray Romano and John Cleese have all attended the festival. The casts of The Simpsons, Everybody Loves Raymond and Family Guy have also made appearances, as well as writers from the Sex and the City TV series.

The Fête de la Musique, also known as World Music Day is a festival taking place on June 21, the summer solstice.

It began in France and is the occasion of a mass celebration which has grown more and more successful and has spread to other countries. Its purpose is to promote music in two ways:Amateur musicians are encouraged to perform in the streets. Many free concerts are organized, making all genres of music accessible to the public.

From the looks of it, 21st June Zee Cafe promises to be a great place to celebrate music.

Balamurali Ambati, M.D. (born July 29, 1977) was the youngest ever person, according to Guinness Book of Records, to become a doctor.

Ambati graduated from New York University at the age of 13 and Mount Sinai School of Medicine at age 17, becoming the world's youngest doctor in 1995.

His father Dr Rao fought school administrators to allow his son to study at his own pace, which was nearly twice as fast as his peers, and says that he taught Balamurali and his brother to be focused and to desire accomplishments.

He completed an ophthalmology residency at Harvard University, where he developed strategies to reverse corneal angiogenesis, after becoming a winner at the Westinghouse Science Talent Search and the International Science & Engineering Fair and becoming a National Merit Scholar.

Clapton - The Unplugged Concert

Zee Cafe is featuring one of Clapton's best performances on The GIG this Saturday (June 23rd).

For viewers who want to know a few facts before they sit down to watch the legend perform, here are a few interesting ones.

Unplugged is an album by Eric Clapton released in 1992. It was recorded live at Bray Studios in London for the the 'Unplugged' series.

The album includes an acoustic version of the hit single "Tears in Heaven" and a heavily reworked acoustic version of "Layla". Clapton earned two Grammy Awards for the album: Album of the Year and Rock Male Vocal.

Clapton performed the show in front of a small audience on January 16, 1992 at Bray Film Studios in Windsor, England.

Clapton was both critically praised and criticized for reworking many of his famous songs into an acoustic context. Critics contended that some of the tracks were almost unrecognizable, most notably with his version of "Layla" (before he performed it, he commented "see if you can spot this one").

In 2000 Q magazine placed Clapton's Unplugged at number 71 in its list of the 100 Greatest British Albums Ever.

At first, the producers didn't want people to know that Michelle was played by twins, so in the beginning, they were credited as Mary-Kate Ashley Olsen. In the last season, they were credited as Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen.

Mary-Kate Olsen is left-handed and Ashley Olsen is right-handed. That is why throughout the show, Michelle uses both of her hands to write and eat.

'Old Skool' on Zee Cafe (Mon-Fri) brings back all those great shows of yesteryears. A clear favourite among many people seems to be The Wonder Years.

While on The Wonder Years, most guys would want to know where Winnie Cooper (Kevin Arnold's lady love) is now.

Well,Danica McKellar (pronounced as in "Monica") literally grew up on screen. In fact, her first kiss was with Fred Savage in an episode of The Wonder Years. She later said, "My first kiss was a pretty nerve-wracking experience! But we never kissed off screen, and pretty quickly our feelings turned into brother/sister, and stayed that way.

When Savage married real estate agent Jenny Stone last year in Los Angeles, rumours began that Fred's bride had stopped Danica attending. McKellar rubbished this urban myth in an interview with TV Guide, explaining, "I was out of town. Jenny is very sweet. I've met her many times."
